Editorial standards

Every story is written by a named editor and carries their byline. We work from announcements, statements, data and the people quoted. Names, titles, figures and dates are checked against the source before publication, and we say where the news came from.

Releases enter one pool and are selected on news value. We cover what an operator, investor or agency in Singapore would want to know happened: a significant move by a named operator or group, a known chef or brand, a figure that matters, a recognised venue, or a first for the market. An opening with none of those is a listing, not news, and we do not run it.

What we select is rewritten in our own words, with context for the people who run these businesses. Quotes are reproduced as given and attributed to the person who said them.

A named editor reads, edits and approves every story before it goes live. If coverage follows a hosted stay, meal, event or product sample, we say so. We may accept invitations where the host covers travel and accommodation, but hosting buys nothing: the same editorial test decides whether a story runs and what it says. If a story makes a claim a business may reasonably dispute, we seek a response before publication.

Coverage is not for sale.

We use AI tools to monitor hundreds of sources, prepare drafts and compare those drafts with their source material. AI assists the newsroom; it does not make the editorial decision. Every story is reviewed and published by a named editor who is responsible for meeting the standards on this page.
